A sequence rather than one settled week

The Met Office's 10 September trend described a changeable early-autumn pattern across the UK as low- and high-pressure systems alternated. That brings periods of rain and showers, but also brighter and drier intervals. A broad “wet week” label would miss the useful gaps between fronts, while a single sunny day would not prove the pattern had settled.

What a ten-day trend can tell you

At this range the large-scale pattern is more reliable than the exact hour a front reaches a particular town. Western and northern areas often encounter Atlantic systems first, but the location and duration of heavier rain can be revised closer to the day. Short-range local forecasts and any weather warnings should guide travel plans.
