Two products with different jobs
A numerical point forecast estimates weather variables for a location and time. It helps answer ordinary questions: how temperature may change, whether rain appears in the model, or when wind may strengthen. An official warning has a different purpose. It communicates that a responsible authority has identified a hazardous situation for a defined area and period, often with severity, expected impacts and protective instructions.
World Wide Weather News currently publishes validated MET Norway numerical forecasts. It does not ingest or reproduce an official warning feed. The absence of a warning banner on a city page therefore does not mean that no warning exists. For safety-critical decisions, readers should open the responsible authority’s current warning service.
Berlin: Deutscher Wetterdienst
Germany’s national meteorological service is the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD). The DWD Act assigns it the task of preparing, issuing and distributing official warnings about weather phenomena that can threaten public safety or have high damage potential. DWD publishes warning products and machine-readable CAP material for warning areas.
For Berlin, use the current DWD warning service and check the issue time, affected district, warning level and recommended action. A general model forecast from another provider can add context, but it does not replace DWD’s official warning.

Moscow: Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia
The city page links to the Hydrometeorological Centre of Russia at meteoinfo.ru. Check its current public notices and timestamps for Moscow and the surrounding area. Language, regional boundaries and product names can differ from those used by other authorities. Follow instructions from the competent local public services during hazardous weather.

Tbilisi: National Environmental Agency of Georgia
Georgia’s National Environmental Agency publishes weather information and a warnings section through meteo.gov.ge. Its public site identifies the agency and provides current Georgian warning material. For a hazard affecting Tbilisi or travel elsewhere in Georgia, check the agency page directly and follow instructions from Georgian emergency authorities.

New York City: National Weather Service New York
The US National Weather Service office serving New York City publishes watches, warnings and advisories, hazardous-weather outlooks and detailed local forecasts. Its New York office page shows active products and links to the text of each alert. Products can cover different boroughs, counties, coastal zones or marine areas, so confirm that the named area includes your location.

Read the product status, area and time
Warning systems use several product types. The exact meaning varies by authority, but the practical checks are consistent:
- Is the product current, cancelled, expired or replaced?
- Does the affected area include your location or route?
- When does it begin and end in local time?
- What hazard and impact does the authority describe?
- What action does the authority recommend?
Do not rely on a screenshot or a search-result snippet because it can be old. Open the current authority page and check the issue and expiry times. If official emergency messages conflict with a general forecast page, follow the official instructions.
Why model values and warnings may look different
A warning can cover an area larger than one forecast grid point. Authorities can consider observations, multiple models, local expertise, vulnerability and impact thresholds. A city point forecast may show a moderate value while a warning applies to another part of the same administrative area, or a warning may address a short-lived hazard that a coarse hourly table does not express well.
The reverse can also happen: a model can show rain or strong gusts without the authority’s warning criteria being met. A warning threshold is not a label for every instance of inconvenient weather.
How this website handles the boundary
Each city forecast identifies its source, model issue time when available, retrieval time, requested coordinates and returned grid. It labels model estimates and stale data. It also links to the appropriate official service without claiming that the external warning status has been checked. This separation prevents an automated forecast refresh from accidentally presenting itself as an official safety alert.
Use the city page for transparent forecast data and the responsible public authority for active warnings and emergency instructions.
